Fingerpainting and another Abbie photo
Daddy and Carolyn created some art.
Some of the paint even actually landed on the paper... But not much.
Abbie sweetness.
Expotitioning
There's a little town not far from where we live that we haven't explored much. This weekend, we came to believe that we should rectify that. We spotted a little restaurant that looked like it might be worth trying--a drive-in that looked like it might have food on par with Wally's or Club 41 for those who know those places. So we tried the little greasy spoon looking place and for the first time in the 3 years that we've lived here we discovered a restaurant with decent prices, and yummy food. Oh joy of joys!
Ok, so the restaurant isn't pictured here, but the rest of our Anacortes Expotitioning is. It's a sea-town full of character and quirkiness. These probably aren't the kind of photos that you'll find in the town brochure, but that's ok with us.
A classic old, dilapidated building.
That's right, a very vintage car.
Is that an ox???
A very large boat being used as a.... very large planter???
Other local cuisine sounds vaguely odd to us....
On our trip back today, we visited the W.T. Preston Snag Boat. Perhaps it was a more ambitious outing than you might expect a family with a three week old and a 2 year old to take. What can I say? Andy talks me into all kinds of these excursions.
The boat
Daddy and Carolyn outside the captain's office.
Mama and C with a view of the marina.
The wicked steep ladders that we braved at my protestations with the 3 week old and toddler.
Daddy and Abbie on the wicked steep ladder.
The telegraph.
The Snagboat family photo.

Rhododendrons and Such
We took a trip down the island today and did a little bit of walking and a little bit of touristing. We stopped at the lavendar farm, a rhododendron garden (thank you Mrs. Dechow for teaching me to spell that particular flower variety), and at a local cafe for some lunch, pie, and tractor cranking.
All of us at the Lavendar farm. The lavendar isn't in bloom yet... but the view is gorgeous. We go early so we can see the progression of the growth.

A rare 'couple' photo op.
pretty gorgeous, eh?
Yeah, more Rhodies....
